Fees for Nonfiction writing Projects:
*Note: Price list
is based on the project, more than the hourly rate. These are the rates quoted to most magazines, however, if there is extensive
research necessary, fees will be higher in proportion to the intensity of the research required.
Editing Services $20 per hour
Reading and marking up and/or correcting for grammar,
correct verbiage usage, style, spelling, etc.
Articles $100 each
This is for an average size article, one that would cover two pages with photos, one page without. Larger articles
are billed proportionally. Second printing in "sister" magazines would be billed at one half the rate ($50 or 50%).
Prices by word count:
Articles 800 to 1000 words are $125
each.
Articles 500 to 800 words are $100 each.
Articles 400 to 500 words are $75 each.
Articles 200
to 300 words are $50 each.
Blurbs and Website
Content
Combination of hourly and word count rate, dependant on the editing, rewriting
or research involved.
Deadlines
Longer
deadlines insure submissions of higher quality. A two week minimum is requested (and must be agreed upon
ahead of time) -- more time is greatly appreciated.
Rights
Magazines will maintain first rights, both written and electronic, and
second print rights, if an article is published in the sister magazine, the writer retains all subsequent rights,
and will include the magazine information and date of first publication with each reprint.
